Cosette Allen was well known to many for her years of dedication as assistant director of the Central Vermont/New Hampshire Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross. Friends and members of Vermont's rug-hooking community also knew her for her creativity and enthusiasm for her art.   In 2004, Cosette's talent for designing and hooking rugs was honored with national recognition. Cosette, who retired from the Red Cross in 2004, died in January 2005, in an automobile accident. She was survived by her husband, Ted, daughters, Sharon and Maggie, and granddaughter Chelsea.
