Carol Adam

Carol L. Callahan
ROCKLAND – Carol L. (Adam) Callahan, 76, of Rockland, died peacefully at her home on December 29, 2018, after a bout with cancer. She was the loving wife of Joseph Callahan Jr.
She was born November 30, 1942, to the late RalphandMary(Decoste) Adam in Weymouth. Carol was raised and educated in Weymouth.
In grammar school, she was given the title of Ms. Elden B. Johnson and was a graduate of Weymouth High School.
Carol worked for many years as a manager for the Salvation Army. Earlier in her life she was a den mother for Troop 36 and later in life a member of the Foxes Den camping group.
She loved gardening or 'playing in the dirt', rug braiding, doing puzzles and mostly spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband Joseph, Carol was the loving mother of Joseph Callahan III of Norwell, James Callahan Sr. of Rockland, Jay Michael Callahan of Plymouth and John Callahan of Carver. She was the sister of Rosemary Simmons of Pembroke and the late Geraldine Tirrell of Florida. Carol will be dearly missed by her fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, including Erika Simmons Gold.
The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate her life on Friday, January 4, 2019, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street, Rockland. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church.
Donations in Carol's name can be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Robert Adams

Obituary:
Robert T. Adams, died suddenly on April 1, 2014. He was born in Boston, son of the late Catherine (Smith) and Gerard Adams and raised his family in Weymouth. More recently, Mr. Adams was a resident of Abington. A veteran, he served in the Navy Seabees. Prior to retirement, Mr. Adams was a United States Postal worker. Beloved husband of Dorothy "Dolly" (Lewis). Devoted father of Robyn Cleaves, David, Stephen, James and Nicholas. Brother of Geraldine Monihan, Marjorie Harrington, Catherine Lynch, the late William Adams, Anne "Nancy" Pizzelli, John Adams, Maureen McIver, James Adams and Alice Willis. He is also survived by 12 cherished grandchildren, many loving nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Church, Pleasant Street, Weymouth, followed by a reception at 11:30 a.m. in Emerald Hall, 30 Central St., Abington. Family and friends are invited to attend.

Frederick Adley

I remember Fred as a fun loving guy. Fred lived on Holmberg Rd. just off middle St. in East Weymouth about Halfway to Weymouth High from my house on Greenvale Ave. I used to stop by his house and listen to his tales of what it was like growing in South Boston, one of his favorite subjects.

It was very sad to hear of his untimely death and I would like to convey my condolences to his family.

Joseph F. Fred Adley age 67 of Weymouth, formerly of So. Boston passed
away at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton. on Wednesday, Feb. 3,
2010. Fred was born, raised and educated in So. Boston. Resident of
Weymouth for the past 53 years. He was member of the U.S. Navy. Retired
in 1992 with the Gillette Co. in So. Boston after 28 years. Fred was a
member of the Weymouth Lodge of Elks and the Weymouth Eagles. He was an
avid football fan and enjoyed music. Beloved son of the late Frederick
J. and Lillian V. (Scanlon) Adley. Loving brother of Arlene Barr and her
husband Alan of Plymouth and Paul Adley of Randolph. Uncle of Kimberly
Bernabeo of Marshfield and Gary Barr of Weymouth. Funeral from the
McDonald Funeral Home E. Weymouth on the corner of Middle and Charles
Sts. (at Central Sq.) Sat. Feb. 6, 2010 at 9:00 A.M. followed by a
Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, E. Weymouth at 10:00 A.M.

Judith Campbell (Allan)

Judith E. (Allan) "Judy" Campbell of Hanover, passed away April 4, 2019. Judy raised her family in Hingham, moving to Hull and then Hanover. She worked for 31 years at Macys and 20 years at Talbots. Judy loved being at the beach, and enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with her family and friends. Daughter of the late Frederick and Irene Allan and wife of the late Charles R. Campbell, she was the mother of Tracey Busony and her husband Curt of Vt., Lauren Vasiliadis and her husband Stephen of Hull and Charles Campbell and his wife Kristine of Hanover; sister of Frederick Allan of Plymouth; Nana of Sean Walsh, Nicole Walsh, Kylie Campbell and Charlie Campbell; and great-Nana to Aidan McKeen. Also survived by two nieces, Jennifer Kelley of Duxbury and Kristin Millette of Plymouth. John Bruce Allen

John Bruce passed away at his home in Watkins Glen, NY. He and I were married for 55 years. We lived most of our lives in Duxbury, Mass and our children and their families still live in that area. After our retirement, we enjoyed our winters in the southwest and, more recently, our home in Ft. Myers, FL.

John "Bruce" Allen, 76, of Watkins Glen, New York, and formerly of Duxbury, MA, died on Tuesday, September 24, 2019. He was born in Bangor, Maine on November 13, 1942, the son of the late John N. and Mabel C. (MacPherson) Allen. Bruce graduated from Weymouth High School in 1960 and later from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1964. On June 27, 1964, he married the former Nancy H. Bullard in Germantown, NY. They met in college and moved to Duxbury, MA in 1968 where they raised their children. Bruce was a teacher at Hanson Public Schools for over 20 years. He then opened an automotive repair shop in Pembroke, MA where he worked for another 20 years until he retired in 2003. Bruce had many hobbies and interests, and made friendships through those affiliations. He was an avid sportsman, fisherman, and hunter. He loved automotive restoration and classic cars. He was a member of the Pembroke Rod and Gun Club and refereed at clay sporting events. During the winters, he and his wife Nancy enjoyed traveling to the mid-west in their RV. They retired to a home in Watkins Glen, NY for summer and fall, and spent winters and spring in Fort Myers, FL, further widening their circle of friends. Bruce is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy H. Allen; a daughter, Kristin L. (Joseph) McLellan of Plymouth, MA; a son, Erik B. (Robin Giles) Allen of Pembroke, MA; two sisters, Mary Jane (Allen) Williams of Brewster, MA and Priscilla (Allen) Ishiguiri of White Plains, NY; four grandchildren, Justin and Scott Allen, and Sean and Curtis McLellan; and by many nieces and nephews. There will be an open house to celebrate Bruce's life on Saturday, September 28, 2019 beginning at 5:00 pm and after at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Kristin and Joe McLellan, 2 Pierce Ave., Plymouth , MA.

Neil Baker

Obituary:
Neil Baker, age 77, a lifelong Weymouth resident passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on January 9, 2019. Neil was born in 1941 and attended Weymouth schools. He graduated from Dean Junior College with a degree in Business. Neil was married in 1964 to Helen McDonough at Immaculate Conception Church in Weymouth. They settled in Weymouth where they started a family and have cultivated many great memories over the years. Neil worked at his family store, Baker's 5 and 10, in both the Weymouth and Hingham locations and later joined the Weymouth Fire Department in 1969. He retired from the fire department in 2002. Neil was involved in town politics as a town meeting member for many years. In Neil's retirement he was able to enjoy many relaxing years with his wife and family. He also owned and operated the Country Corner Clock Shop, collected antiques, was a member of the Mayflower Society, enjoyed many rides in his 1975 Oldsmobile, and shared many good times and funny jokes with his family. Neil is survived by his beloved wife, Helen (McDonough) Baker of Weymouth; his loving children, Michael Baker of Weymouth, Brian Baker and his wife Theresa, David Baker and his wife Jessica, John Baker and his wife Tracy all of Weymouth, and Matthew Baker and his wife Joanna of Portland, Maine. Neil is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Kathy Forte of Dennis and Earl Baker of Parrish, Fla.; and many loving nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Neil on Monday, January 14, 2019, from 4-8 p.m. in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Square), Weymouth. James Balcom

James "Jim" P. Balcom passed away on May 7, 2016, at Vitas Hospice in Naples, Fla. Born in Manhattan, Kan., he grew up in Weymouth, Mass., and graduated from Weymouth High School. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of New Hampshire and a master's degree from the University of Guam. He spent 4 years active duty in the Navy and 8 years in the Reserves obtaining the rank of Lieutenant. He enjoyed a long career in sales and marketing with 3M Company. In retirement he was an avid golfer and belonged to the Forest Glen Country Club. He was also an accomplished long distance bicycle rider. His longest of many bike trips was from California to Virginia. Jim is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary; and his brothers, Philip and his wife Joanna, Robert and his wife Margaret; and his brother-in-law, Toby Lyon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Margaret Balcom, and his sister, Margaret "Peggy" Lyon. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in Jim's name to the Alzheimer's Support Network, at 660 Tamiami Trail North, Suite 21, Naples, FL, would be gratefully appreciated.

Richard Barzelay

Richard A. Barzelay, 71, of Marshfield passed away peacefully on May 22, 2014. He was the beloved husband of 48 years to Edith (Edie) Barzelay. Beloved father of David B. Barzelay of Waltham. Devoted brother to Roger Barzelay and his wife Gail of York, ME and to Robert Barzelay and his wife Debbie of Holbrook. Devoted Uncle of Brian and Adam Barzelay of Maine. Devoted nephew of Estelle Barzelay of Saugus. He was the beloved son of the late Burton and Barbara Barzelay. Richard worked for many years as an executive search consultant specializing in the retail industry. He was also, for many years, deeply involved with the Kiwanis Club of Marshfield both as a devoted member as well as President and Treasurer. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing in his spare time. A visitation was held on Sunday, May 25 from 2 to 6 p.m.at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Rte. 139 in Marshfield. At Richards request, there will be no funeral service.
