James L. Regal
James Leo Regal Apr. 8, 1942 - Jan. 22, 2009 After a long battle with mesothelioma, James passed away quietly in his home on Thursday morning surrounded by his family. James was born and raised in Weymouth, MA to Stephen and Elizabeth Regal. He was one of 9 children, consisting of 6 sisters and 3 brothers. In 1965 James enlisted in the US Army during the Vietnam War, advancing in rank to Sergeant, serving 3 years and then being honorably discharged. In 1968 he officially moved to Washington, settling in Tacoma, where in August 1972 he went to work for Boeing as a machinist, and then retired 32 years later. James spent his remaining years enjoying life; he loved being outdoors and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He had a great sense of humor and loved to smile. He loved to read and was extremely intelligent and knowledgeable on just about any subject. James was the type of man who was there when you needed him. He was a man who believed that if you're going to do a job, do it right. Even after being diagnosed with cancer, he didn't stop living. James will be remembered by all who love him and by everyone who knew him. James, you will be missed and loved every day. Wherever you may be, may your days be filled with love and laughter. Watch over all of us and keep us safe until we see you again. James is survived by his six children: Crystal (Chester), Jeff, Jessica (Chris), Chad (Emily), Desiree (Donnie), and Lynette; and his eight grandchildren. A small memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 at 2pm.
