I first met Phil as a Soph. at WHS in Phil Dolan's art class.  He had a sense of humor that was refreshing.  Who could forget that smile that said " I'm enjoying every day I'm here"  We saw each other at least once a year since leaving Weymouth and nothing ever changed.  The smile, the jokes, and the laughs were always there.  He will be sorely missed as a true lifelong buddy.

Phil and I remained friends up until his passing and we shared a lot of uplifting telephone conversations over the years punctuated often by Phil's colorful jokes and stories of life in Florida. My condolences to Martha and Phil's family and his many friends

Philip I. Bryant          PORT CHARLOTTE, FL Philip Bryant, age 68, passed away on October 20, 2009 at his home. Philip is survived by his wife of 6 years, Martha (Lincoln) Bryant, his children Keith Bryant of Virginia Beach, VA, Christopher Bryant of Canton and Pamela Kanellias of Norton, his grandchildren Dena and Erin Bryant and Marianne and Alex Kanellias, his father Warren Barney Bryant of Stoughton and his brothers, Russell Bryant of Ossipee, NH and Richard and Steven Bryant, both of Weymouth. He is predeceased by his mother Althea (Pettengill) Bryant. Philip was born in Boston and grew up in Weymouth. He served in the Coast Guard Reserve from 1960 to 1964. Philip drove cab nights and weekends for Green Taxi in South Weymouth from 1964 to 1965 and worked at Electroswitch as an apprentice. He had his own professional band, the PBT (Phil Bryant Trio) with Russ MacDonald and Dave Duross. They played at the North River House in Pembroke and the Hearthside in Hanover to name a few. He worked for the Foxboro Company from 1963 to 1985. In 1985 he sold his worldly belongings and went to the Virgin Islands for 20 years where he ran his own charter business and later became a captain on a barge before coming back to the states. He then ran private yachts as captain until he retired in 2003. He moved to Florida in 2002 on the east coast, then to Port Charlotte in 2004, just in time for Hurricane Charlie. Visiting will be held at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Saturday October 31 from 11A.M. to 12 P.M., immediately followed by a Memorial Service at 12 P.M.
