John F. Spillane, Jr., 67, of Sinking Spring, died February 10, 2010 in Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Cheryl J. Cheri (Greene) Spillane. Born in Boston MA, he was a son of Edna M. (Patnode) Spillane, Weymouth, MA and the late John F. Spillane, Sr. John graduated from Wentworth Institute and earned his Civil Engineering degree from Northeastern University. He was employed for 35 years by Western Electric/ AT&T, first as a civil engineer then as a facilities manager and, upon moving to Reading, was the Plant General Manager, retiring in 2002. John was an avid golfer and was a longtime member of Golden Oaks; most recently he was a member of Chapel Hill. He also enjoyed his golf trips with his friends to Myrtle Beach every year. John touched the lives of many with either his wisdom or sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, John F. III, husband of Janet C., Sinking Spring and Michael J., husband of Kristy, West Reading; two grandchildren, John F. Spillane, IV and Jena C. Spillane; and three siblings, Beverly A. Carey, Weymouth, MA, Deborah A. St. Coeur, Lake Worth, FL and Patrick J. Spillane, Wareham, MA. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Sinking Spring Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
