Patricia Chalet Cairns of Hanover passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2015. The daughter of the late Nathan and Dora (DeRosa) Chalet, she was born in Boston, January 2, 1943. Patricia was raised in Weymouth and was a teacher and librarian in the Weymouth Public Schools. She was a graduate of Douglass College and received master's degrees from Northeastern University and Simmons College. She was a longtime member of the Puritan Bridge Club, where she reached the rank of Silver Life Master. She was an avid reader and loved to travel, including two years teaching in the Panama Canal Zone. She was known for her strength, determination, and sense of humor. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Richard Cairns; and her daughter, Catherine Cairns of Washington, DC. She is also survived by many more loved ones including her brother, Richard Chalet and wife Marianne of Hobe Sound, Fla.; her sister, Elaine Sheeran and husband James of Plymouth; her nieces, Christine Georgeadis of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Elizabeth Murray of Kingston, and Caroline McDermod of Hanover; and three great-nephews and three great-nieces. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte. 53, Hanover, Monday from 4-7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover St., Rte. 139, in Hanover. Burial will follow at the Hanover Center Cemetery.
