William J. Bill Manning of Weymouth , died August 12, 2014. He was 71. Bill was born and raised in Weymouth . In his early years he worked as a maintenance foreman at South Shore Country Club. He later owned a carpentry business that he operated for many years. He was well known for the numerous social events he organized that brought enjoyment to many people. Most recently Bill was part owner and manager of Memory Lane Restaurant and Lounge in Braintree . Bill proudly served in the Massachusetts National Guard for 35 years, retiring in 1995 as a Sergeant E-8. He was a kind and generous man that could often be found spending time lending a hand to those in need around him. He will be sadly missed. Beloved son of the late George Manning Sr. and Eleanor Logan, he was the loving brother of George Manning and his wife Lee of Scituate and the late Ann Meyer; cherished uncle of Patrick and Brian Manning, Donald, Michelle and Peter Gustafson and Caroline OConnor. Also survived by several great-nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Sunday 3-7 p.m. in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles and Middle Street), East Weymouth. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Monday prior to the funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth, at 10:30 a.m. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, at a later date.
