William F. O'Brien, of Scotch Plains, New Jersey, passed away Monday, March 14, 2016 at Best Israel Medical Center in Newark, surrounded by his family.
William was raised in Weymouth, MA and graduated from Providence College with a BS in Political Science. After serving in the US Army Reserves in Picatinny Arsenal, he was employed as a bond trader for many years with Chase Bank and retired from Chapdelaine & Co.
He is survived by his daughters, Darraugh Valli (Peter) and Sandra Karyczak (Keith); his beloved grandchildren, Micaela, Sean, Brendan and Kyle; his sisters, Nancy Kavanaugh and Susan Bugden; and many friends.
The funeral will be from Memorial Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood, on Friday, March 18th, at 9 AM followed by a 10AM funeral Mass at St. Helen's R.C. Church in Westfield. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. Visitation will be Thursday from 4PM to 8PM. Inh lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Union Catholic High School, 1600 Martine Ave., Scotch Plains, NJ 07076.
