Shirley Smith Waldron, 78, of Snow Camp passed away at her residence on Saturday, March 27, 2021 following six months of declining health.

A native of Quincy, MA, she was the daughter of Franklin Smith and Muriel Kain Smith, both deceased. She was an administrative assistant for Piedmont Livestock for many years. Shirley attended Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Mt. Hermon Ruritan Club. She loved her four-legged fur babies and was a big supporter of the Biscuit Foundation. She was an avid round track racing fan.

Shirley loved spending time with her family. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Waldron Mathias and husband Lucas of Snow Camp; son, John Waldron, Jr. and wife Carla of Denver, NC; four grandchildren, James “Jimmy” Gilbert and his fiancé Heather, Joshua Waldron and wife Kimberly, Luke Waldron, and Seth Waldron; one great-grandson, Brexton Waldron; one great-grandson due in April, Boone Waldron; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Smith Brown.

The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.  Other times they will be at her residence.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.

We were friends, all those years, talking on the phone regularly, after Shirley moved to Snow Camp, NC ! I miss those calls now! Rest in peace, Shirl! As ever, Judii
